Pathology Lab Assistant
The lab assistant position will be responsible to help maintain organization in the pathology department with regards to maintaining lab flow and process. The ideal candidate is organized and has a positive attitude to bring to the work environment!
*Knowledge and Skills: * Must have excellent typing skills, medical terminology helpful, telephone and personal communication skills are imperative and willingness to learn basic lab policies and protocol.
Areas of responsibility will include, but not limited to:
1. Responsible for specimen pick up from ASC and assisting in accession in cases.
2. Assisting technical staff with non-technical work throughout the laboratory.
3. Comply with all safety and regulatory policies
4. Routine handling of biohazard and/or chemical hazardous material.
5. Assisting with changing chemical solutions in processors and strainers.
6. Organize and deliver slides to the pathologist.
7. Maintain, troubleshoot and running of non-complex automated equipment.
8. Filing away pathology slides, blocks, and requisitions in an appropriate manner.
9. Storing of slides and blocks in short and long term storage
10. Organizing of supplies delivered to the lab
11. Assist with accessioning patient specimens as needed.
12. All other duties as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
