An exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral research fellow to join The Alfred Deakin Institute or Citizenship and Globalisation working on research for the Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies (CRIS) and specifically on the 'Trust Flows' project.

The Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation aims to understand complex social issues associated with globalising processes through innovative, mixed-method multidisciplinary research. Our four research streams - People, Place and Heritage; Governance, Development and Peace; Mobility, Diversity and Multiculturalism and Culture, Environment and Science - support an overarching in-principled research agenda and foster opportunities for meaningful collaboration and professional development among researchers, students and external stakeholders with shared interests and priorities.

The Associate Research Fellow will provide high-level research assistance and support to the ‘Trust Flows’ research and program project conducted by the Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies (CRIS). Alongside varied tasks and responsibilities, this role will include research tasks such as literature reviews and analysis; interview and focus group coding; managing schedules and participants for interviews, focus groups and surveys; project partner engagement and communication, and project management tasks including reporting requirements and aspects of budget management. You will also support the preparation and finalisation of research articles,

This is a part-time (0.6) fixed-term contract for 12 months based at the Burwood Campus.

You will be expected to:

  • Provide an excellent contribution to the Institute's overall research programs
  • Contribute to the achievement of the Institute’s strategic goals in research, engagement and innovation
  • Contribute to the research achievement of the Institute
  • Exhibit and/or publish high-quality research in journals of high repute
  • Undertake professional and administrative roles and responsibilities that enhance both the discipline and Deakin
  • Develop relationships with research, community, industry and government for enhanced research outcomes.

To be successful, you will have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Capacity to support high-quality academic publications, including editing and literature reviews
  • Demonstrated skills in research administration and project management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
  • Demonstrated capacity to work successfully with the community and government stakeholders, including culturally diverse communities
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate communications
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and plan, and to successfully manage competing demands, priorities and deadlines, along with the ability to adapt to changed priorities
  • Qualitative and quantitative research skills (use of SPSS or other statistical programs for data analysis)
