The Business Planning organization leads Microsoft’s commercial business’s pricing, packaging, licensing, channel, and monetization strategies. Our team’s charter within Business Planning is to create cloud-first go-to-market strategy across Enterprise and Breadth customers, cultivate and develop cross-cloud business models inclusive of Microsoft’s full commercial portfolio of products, and shepherd the success of our initiatives through customer, partner, and internal engagement.

 

We analyze customer needs, meet them through differentiated purchase/go-to-market strategies, define program and platform requirements and drive engagement models to enable the success of our sales organizations and partners. As a senior strategic leader in this organization, you will have a tremendous opportunity to drive impact for Microsoft and in broader industry through developing cloud commitment models. You’ll partner closely with engineering, finance, marketing, and sales teams to create north-star vision for how customers graduate from usage-based business models into spend commitment models. You’ll have the opportunity to cultivate long-term business model vision as well as bring offers and initiatives to market, crafting launch and execution plans and monitoring real-time adoption. You’ll succeed by nurturing strong cross-organization partnerships, developing influence strategies to accelerate your vision and prioritization, and bringing your own ideas to life through business case proposals.

 

The right candidate can expect to gain valuable experience in developing strategy and thought leadership on cross-cloud business models, engaging across the company to create aligned frameworks and vision documents and how to partner with engineering to prioritize feature development to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

How you can make an impact:

  • Own and drive strategy development for cross-cloud commitment models.
  • Gain deep understanding of unique needs across our cloud businesses, partnering to incorporate specific needs into broader commitment strategies and monetization frameworks.
  • Transform your vision into technical capabilities and build business cases for engineering to prioritize commerce features to bring your ideas to life.
  • Conduct external and internal research to gain new perspectives and validate ideas.
  • Work with senior executives and their organizations to foster collaboration, alignment and drive positive customer and business outcomes.
  • Engage directly with customers, analysts, partners, and field sales teams to socialize thinking and gather insights to improve GTM strategy and approaches.
  • Create execution and go-to-market launch strategy to bring business models to our customers and partners.
  • Partner closely with finance teams to monitor and refine in-market initiatives, identify opportunities and risks and track progress against a core set of KPIs.
  • Lead with trust, inclusion and valuing diverse perspectives and ideas.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience
  • OR equivalent experience

 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
  • OR 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
  • OR equivalent experience
